Hello there,
So here we are, starting a new journey as a theater performer writing and preparing to perform my very first on-woman show. I've done many different things in my life thus far and this one is a completely new undertaking. Well, I did become a wedding officiant about 5 years ago so I have gotten a good taste of being on stage and storytelling.
It's been a long time coming for me to write my book of the last 2 decades of my life and a health crisis that led to a particular relationship with a health guru of sorts. My yearnings to express my story through art have since expanded from book form to stage--the one- person show-- raw, crafted to be excellent, smart, playful, healing, and a journey of the senses, the heart and spirit.
My husband and I recently moved to a new town in Northern California. They have a Fringe Festival! I think I'm going to go for it. Whether I bomb or succeed at least I know what it feels like to share my story on stage, alone in front of a room filled with strangers. That's of course hoping that some folks will show up!! It's in a few months so I have a lot of work to do between now and showtime!
I thought it'd be a good idea and exercise for me to start this blog and practice visibility by sharing my process and what I'm going through as I write my story for the stage and perform it live. While documenting the practical aspects of putting on a 1 person show, I'm also still unpacking what actually did happen to me and how the heck did I let what happen, happen. It's a little complicated to explain off the bat here. This will definitely be part of the process as I begin to fold and unfold, weave and disassemble, repair and replace all that is required for my healing and my purpose in the world. I've been an art and antique furniture restorer and conservation specialist for over 25 years so I can't help but refer to breaks , repairs and re amalgamation, often.
Thanks for reading and traveling with me in advance. I hope you'll join me and be my witness on this intimate journey. It is always my greatest desire that anyone following or reading this will be able to take some nuggets of goodness and inspiration from what I'll be sharing. And, in return I ask that you be kind, gentle and thoughtful about your responses to my posts. Namaste~
